This piece was composed in 2005 and is published by Edition Gravis. It exists in six different versions that vary on how the electronics are involved, ranging from not at all to fixed media to fully interactive. The author was unable to secure the electronics for evaluation purposes, but the composer can be contacted at his website.
This piece is very difficult from a technical standpoint. There are very fast rhythms spanning the entire range of the bassoon, more than fifteen different multiphonic fingerings (which are included in the score), and very little time for any kind of physical or mental break. This piece is well beyond the level of undergraduate students even without evaluating the electronic part.
This piece is in the avant-garde style and would be difficult for audiences unaccustomed to that style of music.
